What is Mars made of?
Mars's basics are very similar to earth's. In the core it is mostly made up of iron and sulfur, covered like a blanket, all cocooned by Mars's crust. The crust is made up of basalt and just enough iron oxide. These elements are give Mars this rusty, reddish color. The core of Mars is very similar to Earth's, they both have a very strong iron fundamental. I believe that Mars is a mixture because it is made up of two elemnts. Although, the core is where the similarities stop. On Earth our core flows in a different direction then outer core. This causes a interaction of the two cores, that process creates our magnetic field. In Mars, the core is solid and it doesn't move. It lacks a magnetic field because it constantly surrounded by radiation. The radiation is being blamed for potentially killing life forms million years ago. Past exploration from the Mars rovers, scientists have proven that Mars does have a magnetic field. Most of Mars's surface is covered by a very thick mantle that is thought to be a mixture of ice and dust. The rich-ice mantle is a few yards thick and the closed you get to land it becomes smooth. Iron is the only alloy in Mars. The solvent in Mars is water. The solute in Mars is H2O.
